This mountain appears in the background of Machu Picchu’s classic pictures. At the summit, visitors find terraces that were made for avoiding erosion and for gardens. The way up is a long stairway with some steps carved right into the mountain rock.
Machu Picchu is a place of unforgettable sunrises and magical moonlit nights at the top of Aguas Calientes. Enjoy the remains of the ancient culture of this unique heart of the valley of the Incas.
This temple is on the lower part of Huayna Picchu, following the same trail that leads to the summit. Halfway up the trail, a detour takes hikers 40 minutes to the temple, an ancient ceremonial center in a shallow cave.
